Hello, I am Clammy, a clamshell orchid living in the Fakahatchee Strand Preserve. Please help me continue to save other orchids growing here.

photos are cheap

There was something in his work for the photofetishist in all of us... even the extreme, perverse, decadent photographers had nothing on him, his work is more lush, more incomplete, more lucid and pregnant at the same time. They were all printed perfectly too, we brought out the 500W spotlight just to indulge ourselves in the blacks. I was just a TA at the time, not the fashion photographer I am now (yes, I carved out a semi glamorous life for myself), but everyone in the room, John, the professor, the other TA Samantha, all of us wanted to give up photography completely, nothing we had ever done could prepare us for the explosive, mind expanding experience that were his photos. Nudes, macros, fashion, landscape, gizelle, urban decay, blood, India, Aberystwyth, Hong Kong, 70’s archival, the rarest orchids guarded by guys with AK-47’s, the golden temple during Holi at 3am using slow sync flash.

We got together at the starbucks after the encounter, looking at each other spellbound. We all wanted to knock him off, we knew that, but we had no idea how... was it even possible that someone could distance themselves from the field like this, with a billion photographers in the world?

What was he thinking?
How did he get that?
Is that... x? I’ve never seen that portrait of x?

(where x is an item highly coveted by photographers)

Before everybody, executed better than everybody, how? What was this man’s inspiration?
